Powkiddy RGB30 Retro Handheld Gaming Console

I am fairly new to handheld game emulators, but I’ve been using PC and arcade emulators for quite some time including ATGames, Arcade1Up, and laptops for over 30 years.

At first I bought an Ambernic RG35H which was quite nice (I like dual joystick games like Robotron, Smash TV, as well as many newer titles for PS1, PSP, GB, N64, Mame, etc. The only thing I didn’t care for on the Ambernic RG35H was the loss of screen real estate (bars) on 4:3 consoles and Mame. So when I heard about the 4” square screen on the RGB30 and the 720x720 resolution I was very hopeful. Turns out it was better than I imagined !!! You would need to go to at least a 5.0” screen at 16:9 to get an equivalent-sized screen area (without stretching) but you get it in a decently smaller package with the RGB30. There is also a 1:1 pixel setting on the RGB30 that maximizes the screen usage and I highly recommend trying that setting.

I also like the Trimui Smart Pro as well but the screen on that is as big as the entire RGB30 (and for 4:3 games the RGB30 gives the same screen area in a smaller package) so you lose portability because the Trimui console is very large when you add in all the controls and not very pocketable. Still I may get that one next for non-portable gaming. Also, Trimui Smart Pro is better for the 16:9 emulations since it utilizes the full 5.0” screen…assuming you like larger displays of course.

Anyway, the RGB30 system is quite nice and the built-in OS is very good. I updated mine with ArkOS which is a *tiny* bit better, but the built-in OS on the RGB30 is great so the update is really optional. Games play very smooth and PS1 titles like N2O also play very smooth. However PS1 games do take a bit of time to load (like 30 seconds). Other emulators load games in about 5 secs or so. RGB30 Screen is not just big and detailed but very bright and crisp…you’ll never need anywhere near full brightness but its there if you want it. Kodi plays movies very well and yeah you can use any online streamer available to Kodi to get movies, etc.. Of course, I’d go with the Trimui Smart Pro for widescreen movies and the RGB30 if your preference for Kodi is older 4:3 TV shows.

The built-in controls on the RGB30 are not Hall joysticks but still are VERY responsive and accurate and are updatable to Hall joysticks if you want them (around $20 bucks at your favorite e-commerce site).

As per usual (with any system) invest in a good 64gb+ sized SD card and keep the included one as a backup. PS1 and PSP games are quite large so go with 128gb or 256gb if those are your favorite emulators (for all others 64gb is plenty large enough for thousands of games). MechDIY did a great job of getting mine to me fast and safe. Custom 4” screen protectors are available online to protect your screen, but in the meantime a bit of cling wrap will keep the screen protected while waiting for a good screen protector.

Sound is stereo and you also get HDMI out, as well as Bluetooth and WIFI for multiplayer gaming, scraping, etc.

Summary: RGB30 system is great overall, but the highlight is the amazing 4:3 720x720 screen. Unless you like small screens or unpocketablely large 5.0” consoles, RGB30 is the way to go IMHO. If you want a larger screen, I suggest the Trimui Smart Pro with its 5” 1280x720 screen.

Risulta un fastidioso surriscaldamento della parte posteriore zona batterie nei momenti di stress del processore.
Molto scomodi i tasti dorsali realizzati uno fianco all'altro (L1,L2,R1,R2).

Awesome, 4 in.² screen gives you more visual space for any game that you can run in one to one mode then you would get with a 5.5 inch screen. Controls are solid and work very well. The included operating system is pretty good but I’m trying out ArKOS, which I like a little bit better… at some point I may go back to JellOS, not sure yet.

Boxy, but comfortable in the hand. Love the yellow color. Just make sure to have a screen protector ready because one is not included.

Dual stick controls are great for Smash TV, Robotron, which are two of my favorites.

Le produit répond à mes attentes,tournes parfaitement sur Nintendo 64 et Dreamcast, quelques ralentissements sur certains jeux de PSP, livraison en France sans soucis.
