Anbernic RG Vita / Vita Pro Leak

Anbernic appears to be preparing its next nostalgia-driven handheld.

After the RG Slide, a device clearly inspired by the PSP Go, recent leaks suggest that Anbernic is now turning its attention to something even more iconic — a PS Vita-style handheld, tentatively referred to as the RG Vita and RG Vita Pro.

The design direction alone is enough to spark interest.

The PlayStation Vita remains one of the most beloved handhelds ever released, not just for its library, but for its form factor and screen. Revisiting that design language — especially in today’s emulation-focused market — feels like a deliberate move, not an accident.

What makes this particularly interesting is timing.

In recent years, Anbernic has been experimenting more openly with bold design choices. The RG Slide showed that the company is willing to step outside of its usual templates, even if results are sometimes mixed. A Vita-inspired device suggests an even bigger creative step forward.

For now, details remain limited.

There’s no confirmed specification list, no official pricing, and no clear release window. And that may be for the best. This feels less like a product announcement and more like a signal — Anbernic testing the waters to see how much appetite still exists for a modern take on a classic handheld.

If done right, a Vita-style emulator could strike a rare balance between nostalgia and practicality. If rushed, it risks being compared — unfairly or not — to the original hardware it draws inspiration from.

Either way, this is one project worth keeping an eye on.

As more information emerges, we’ll be following the story closely.
