Miyoo Mini Plus In-depth System & Gaming Review

Recently, Miyoo Mini Plus on various platforms has been shipped one after another, and I believe many people have already received them. Among these people, some are experienced game enthusiasts, and some are newbies. This is the first time they bought a handheld, so they don't know much about many games. This blog comes from the system and game evaluation video of the new Miyoo Mini Plus released by Retro Break, a YouTube celebrity who specializes in retro game evaluation. I believe that according to his opinion, we can have a more comprehensive understanding of the games on Miyoo Mini Plus, and we can get started with this machine as soon as possible. let's start!

As is known to all, Miyoo Mini Plus is pre-loaded with a wide range of games, but you may also want to add some of the extra games on your own list to the SD card. However, it could leads to some problems such as loss of games and apps, or screen flickering.

“So once I'd done that I put the SD card back in the system and for some reason I lost access to the actual games folder there wasn't anything in there and there hasn't been since even when I went back and overwrote it with the existing memory card status so I'm not entirely sure what's going on there.
There was also an apps list on the main screen as well but after installing my own SD card for some reason all the apps on there have disappeared too.I did have a look online as to why this might be and apparently the firmware that comes with this system isn't the most stable and you really should try and upgrade it to something called onion OS but unfortunately onion OS is not compatible with this plus version of the Miyoo Mini just yet."

"I actually tried to play any of the games, basically every single game that I played had some sort of weird glitch to accompany itTake for example Sonic here on the Mega Drive and you can see that there's some terrible screen tearing that's going on and the top and the bottom of the screen were just flickering uncontrollably and there was nothing that I could do to fix it.”

If any of the above happens, it will most likely cause you to panic, but fortunately, there are ways around it.

“But luckily you can go into the retroarc bit next to the games folder and you've got a list of all the different emulators that this system is compatible with. Some system items do have two different emulators but I've tried both of them and honestly there's either minute differences or there's just no difference whatsoever. So just pick the one that you're more comfortable with.”

If you have tried everything and still can't solve it, you can shut it down and put it aside, and it may surprise you when it restarts.

“I tried all of the different emulator settings I tried all of the different retroarc settings nothing seemed to fix this so I decided to try GBA instead and the first game that I booted up which was Pokemon Emerald just refused to load at all. There was a lot of really inconsistent things with this system so I put the system aside and picked it back up the day after and for whatever reason all of those issues just went away overnight”

Now, back to the system and gaming experience.

“First off is the arcade games and there's actually four different emulators to choose here although it seems that you can open any game on any of them so I've left these ones pre-installed as they come on the SD card.”You can find more arcade games in this console than you expected. “I actually found out some really cool arcade games that I'd never played before as well as checking out some of my all-time favorites too, and then here's all of the different consoles that it's compatible with.”

Of course, most games work very well and can bring a good gaming experience to meet your arcade game needs.

“There's a range of different arcade games from across the generations and the majority of them do run really well. Of course with it being arcades there's all sorts of different screen resolutions and different power consumption and stuff to take into consideration so they might all not play 100 accurately but if you just want to experience a good range of arcade games then this is definitely a fantastic system for you.

I definitely recommend that if you do get this have a few hours spare just to play around with all of the different settings because there's a lot in there and some of them don't actually seem to do anything either and I'm guessing that's because it's literally using retroarch, which was made for PCs and Android and whatever and they've literally just took that and put it on this device but they've not narrowed down any of the settings so you will find things that don't actually make any difference whatsoever but it's up to you to try and figure out.”

While playing Ness, Famicom and GB games, he gave this machine some great compliments. Especially the quality of the machine, build and screen.

“Ness and famicom as well is probably my favorite system to play on this, there's just something about this screen size and about this screen resolution that really makes Ness and famicom Games stand out on there so nicely.
It really was a joy to play some of my favorite Nest games on here like Mega Man 4 which if you've seen my Nest top games list is my number one game on that system.
Of course Game Boy as well, and this screen lends itself really nicely to Game Boy and in fact the d-pad actually feels very similar to the original Game Boy d-pad..... if you're interested in that kind of thing as well as color correction as well for Game Boy Game Boy Color Game Boy Advance basically this is a perfect game boy system if you don't mind not being able to play your own games.”

Next is the Mega Drive system. You may find some issues in this part but there’s also way to figure it out.

“Well it doesn't feel quite as good as playing SNES games on there because of the button layout. After the first day where things were a little bit iffy ,the Mega Drive game seemed to have cleared up and they all run perfectly fine now. You might find a few issues with the region being set not correctly with the type of ROM that you're trying to run.

So if you do run into any stuttering issues, make sure you either set it to us or Auto because it might try and force some pound games to run at the wrong speeds. You might have a few issues that way like I encountered but once I'd sorted that out it was smooth sailing and Mega Drive games run fantastically.”

Having said all that, what additional benefits do these systems have other than being able to emulate games? For Nick, having these systems saves a ton of money. Because of this machine, you don't need to buy extra game cards, you can play directly on it which means, you can go anywhere with your favorite games.

“What I really love about these systems is the fact that you can fill it full of all the games that you've considered buying in the future but either they were just too expensive or you just want to see whether they're actually worth adding to your proper collection or not, and that is how I love to use systems like this. And the portability and the form factor and I'll get to the buttons in a little bit but they feel fantastic too it's just an all-round great system to just take with you and stuff it full of all the games that you've always wanted to try out but never have the chance to.”

Of course, there is not completely without complaints for Nick. That is the HDMI output.

“Unfortunately they missed out on with the Miyoo Mini, hopefully in a future revision they'll add a HDMI output. But honestly that's the only complaint I've got with this everything else about it after the initial issues with the setup. And figuring out all the settings ,it really has become my favorite handheld console.”

Of course, there are many system content that are not mentioned in this blog. If you are interested, you can check out the video below to learn more!
